How Do I Get Started?

Serving Tax Sales Investors Since 2005

How do I get started?  I don’t know anything about tax sales

Here are some steps to take in order to become thoroughly familiar with how tax sales work.

First, spend some time reading over the following items on our website:

1. You don’t need a membership to be able to purchase properties that are being sold for taxes by a Municipality. If you are new to this sort of thing I recommend that you read the 2 links below first, before you purchase a membership to decide if buying tax sale properties is right for you:

To learn more about what a tax sale is, please read the following:
https://www.ontariotaxsales.ca/how-to-buy/what-is-a-tax-sale/

To understand how to buy a tax sale property, please read the following:
https://www.ontariotaxsales.ca/how-to-buy/tax-sale-by-public-tender/

About 99% of tax sales are done by public tender (as opposed to public auction).

2. After that, please read the information that is available by clicking on HOW TO BUY > FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Once you have read all of this, you will be well equipped to make informed decisions about tax sale properties.

Also, once a week we send our paid members a newsletter with current tax sale listings.  Membership also allows you access to over 6000 Tax sale results dating back to 2006. These tax sale results will help you get a good feel for the market.

You can always follow us on Twitter or Facebook as we post every single tax sale.

Our current listings can be found under the top menu TAX SALE PROPERTIES

Every year Ontario municipalities offer hundreds of tax sale properties for sale for prices that are a fraction of market value. By law, municipalities do not have to get market value for the property

Why Owners Fall into Tax Arrears💭 Behind every tax sale is a story. Sometimes owners face financial hardship. Sometimes a property is inherited and left unattended. In other cases, the property is simply forgotten.Whatever the reason, municipalities are required by law to collect unpaid taxes. If that is not possible, a tax sale becomes a way to resolve the issue and bring the property back into use.Learn more about how the process works at OntarioTaxSales.ca. ... See MoreSee Less
